Last week at Comic-Con, Microsoft and LucasArts unveiled a limited edition Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 Kinect console. Boasting a 320GB hard drive system skinned in R2-D2’s iconic blue and a white, a custom white Kinect sensor and a C-3PO-themed wireless controller, the kit itself is pretty sweet. It, of course, also comes bundled with the forthcoming Force-tastic Kinect Star Wars title.

Like the game itself, the console will be released this holiday season, and pre-orders are already available at select retailers for $450 American. That price point means that you’re essentially paying for a regular Kinect bundle plus the new game and getting the additional hard drive space/snazzy paint job for free.

However, even considering the exclusive console sounds and DLC revealed at the Major Nelson blog, I just can’t seem to bring myself to make the purchase when my current Xbox 360 Slim and Kinect still have a bit of that lingering new console smell. Diehard Star Wars fans, on the other hand, will not likely be so easily dissuaded.
